Privacy Policy
Sunnyside Kitchen Systems ("Sunnyside", "we", "us") makes software that restaurants use to run their kitchens: inventory, food cost, prep, training, tasks and catering, on the iPad app and on the web. This policy explains what information the service holds, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
Who this applies to
Sunnyside is used by businesses. A restaurant (our customer) signs up, and its owners, managers and staff use the app. The restaurant decides who gets an account and what information about its team goes into Sunnyside. For that information we act on the restaurant's behalf. If you work at a restaurant that uses Sunnyside, you can also ask your employer about how they use it.
What we collect
- Account details. For managers who sign in with email: name, email address, password (stored only in scrambled, one-way form), role, language and an optional photo.
- Staff profiles. What a restaurant enters about its team, which can include names, PINs (stored in scrambled form), phone numbers, addresses, birthdays, start dates, pay rates, availability, certifications and documents.
- Restaurant records. Inventory counts, items and prices, recipes, supplier invoices, prep logs, sales figures, catering orders, tasks, checklists, training lessons and results, and notes.
- Things you add. Photos, videos, documents and messages you upload or write in the app, such as a note to a manager or an update on a task.
- Connected services. If a restaurant connects its point-of-sale system (for example Clover), we receive its sales and menu information from that system.
- On your device. The app remembers which restaurant an iPad belongs to and a few display settings on the device itself.
We do not use advertising, ad tracking, or third-party analytics, and we do not collect your location.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign people in, show each restaurant its own information, and keep it in sync between the iPad and the web.
- To do what you ask: read an uploaded invoice, translate text you typed into Spanish, draft a training lesson from a document, send a weekly summary email or a staff note.
- To support you, keep the service secure, and fix problems.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
Who we share it with
Inside a restaurant, people see what their role allows: staff signed in with a PIN never see costs, prices or sales. Each restaurant's information is kept separate from every other restaurant's.
We use a small number of service providers to run Sunnyside. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database, file storage and sign-in.
- Vercel: hosting for the website and web app.
- Anthropic: the AI features. When you ask the app to read an invoice, translate text or draft a lesson, that content is sent to Anthropic to produce the result. Nothing is sent until a manager at your restaurant allows AI features in the app, and they can turn them off at any time in Settings → AI features.
- Resend: sending emails, such as weekly summaries and approval requests.
- Your point-of-sale provider, such as Clover, when your restaurant connects it.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep a restaurant's information while it uses Sunnyside. If a restaurant cancels, it can ask us to delete its information, and we will delete it except where we need to keep records by law.
Your choices
- Delete your login. In the app, go to Settings, then My profile, then Delete my account. This deletes your login. Records you helped make for the restaurant, like counts and prep logs, stay with the restaurant.
- See, correct or remove your information. Managers can edit most information directly. For anything else, write to us at the address below and we will help, working with your restaurant where the information belongs to it.
Security
Information travels encrypted between your device and our servers. Each restaurant's data is walled off from every other restaurant's in the database itself, and passwords and PINs are never stored in readable form. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and PIN to yourself.
Children
Sunnyside is a workplace tool and is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell restaurant owners about important changes.
